Welcome to the realm of psychotherapy, where healing begins through heartfelt conversations with a Registered Psychotherapist. Psychotherapy is a sanctuary where you’re encouraged to explore the depths of your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, guided by compassionate expertise.

Together, we embark on a journey of self-discovery, unlocking the keys to understanding and nurturing your inner world. Our shared goal is to cultivate your well-being and empower you to navigate life with resilience and grace.

Common areas to explore with your therapist could range from the following: intepersonal challenges, perfectionism, divorce, abuse, self-harm, depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, sexuality, trauma, sexual issues (e.g., erectile dysfunction, desire differences, sexual assault), fears and phobias, grief, among many others. You are always in alignment with what you wish to explore in therapy.

When working with Registered Psychotherapist, you’re selecting a practitioner committed to excellence and integrity. Accountable to the esteemed College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), these professionals uphold the highest standards of care and ethical conduct. Sex Therapy

Sex therapy is a specialized form of psychotherapy aimed to assist individuals or couples in addressing challenges related to sexuality. At RMJ Therapy, we employ diverse techniques and approaches to help clients overcome these obstacles, improve sexual functioning, and enhance overall satisfaction and pleasure.

While the primary focus may be on sex therapy, sessions often involve intersecting areas of concern. Therefore, an integrative approach is often employed, incorporating behavioral exercises, referrals to specialized professionals such as pelvic floor physiotherapy specialists and general practitioners, as well as mindfulness-based homework. Topics addressed in sex therapy encompass a broad spectrum, including but not limited to issues of shame, sexual trauma, desire, erectile dysfunction, orgasm difficulties, performance anxiety, premature or delayed ejaculation, sexual empowerment, and exploration of kinks and fetishes.

Your therapist may utilize the following when working within the scope of sex therapy:

○ Solution Focused Therapy
○ Mindfulness based modalities
○ Cognitive behavioural therapy
○ Psychoeducation
○ Bibliotherapy

Relationship Therapy

Relationship therapy, commonly referred to as couples therapy, aims to assist individuals in overcoming various challenges and obstacles within their romantic partnerships. Embracing monogamous, polyamorous, and open relationship dynamics, our aim is to cultivate a secure, transparent, and impartial setting for partners to address their difficulties, engage in challenging conversations, and acquire fresh tools and communication techniques.

Those seeking relationship therapy may explore topics such as conflict resolution, communication enhancement, navigating infidelity, transitioning between monogamous and polyamorous frameworks, fostering emotional and/or sexual intimacy, managing familial dysfunction or trauma, addressing fertility concerns, and more. Importantly, relationship therapy is not limited to times of crisis; individuals may pursue it at any stage of their relationship journey. Some individuals opt for couples therapy to fortify communication skills, assess values prior to marriage, and for various other reasons.

After your first session, your therapist will meet with you individually to do a thorough assessment of each partner’s history and narrative to formulate a comprehensive treatment plan. During your work in relationship therapy, your therapist will most likely use an integrative approach to honour the uniquness of your relationship with the following frameworks and interventions:

○ Emotion Focused Therapy
○ Gottman Method
○ Sex Therapy
○ Imago Therapy
○ Psychoeducation
○ Mindfulness based modalities

Family Therapy

In family therapy, you and your family collaborate with a therapist in a neutral and safe setting to address conflicts, enhance mutual support, and deepen understanding. Families may opt for this approach due to communication challenges, significant life changes (e.g., divorce, displacement from war, navigating the aftermath of a major loss, persistent conflict, or for support when a family member is going through mental or physical health challenges).

Therapeutic interventions may include narrative therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, emotion-focused therapy, or solution-focused therapy, tailored to the specific needs of your family.
